The New Year is No Time for Lounging About

January 7, 2022

Happy New Year, everyone! And Happy New Year to the Sleuthhounds as well. Development of Sleuthhounds: Cruise has continued over the holidays and what better location to usher in the new year than the ship’s lounge. This is a location that’s taken a bit more effort than usual to do as it’s one that can be visited at different times of the day.

The bridge, as finalized the first time, had windows facing in all directions. In addition to providing a nice splash of colour with the blue ocean in the background, the rearmost windows were involved in an optional puzzle sequence. That all changed with the reintroduction of the captain’s cabin.

While progress was slower during 2021 due to me returning to a day job, the game is still very much advancing. This is especially evident when I take a step back just to wander the corridors of the ship. All of the connecting rooms, those locations that allow access to other locations, are now complete. Additionally, most of the fringe rooms, those places that do not lead elsewhere like the lounge, are also finished.

I still don’t have a projected release date yet, but work on the rooms should finish this year. Then there's still the matters of completing all the character animations, which is already well along, recording the dialog lines, and testing, testing, testing!
