A Sleuthhounds Message

October 2, 2020

At various points in Sleuthhounds: Cruise there arise opportunities for players to step away from the traditional point-and-click inventory combination puzzles to try their hands at a few other dective tasks. One such is the classic rub-the-paper-with-a-pencil to reveal the hidden message, which is the basis for this week’s screenshot. Speaking of messages, There are a couple of important ones with regards to Cruise.

After working for nine months to finalize the rooms in the game, at this point 65.333% of all rooms are fully done (plus a handful that are partially complete). This means that the final artwork has been illustrated and that all possible interactions in the rooms have been scripted. The bulk of the character animations needed for these finalized rooms are also complete. Dialog recording has yet to commence. I’m still working out what that will look like with COVID restrictions, but we’ll get there.

The other important news is that a new, short term employment opportunity has come my way and starts immediately. This will require my attention for the next 3 to 6 months, during which time work on Cruise will understandably slow down. However, it will not stop completely. I will continue to push forward on the game. As my time for doing so will be more restricted I will be switching from my weekly blog posts to monthly ones for the next few months. Understandably, I think, I’d like to put as much of my discretionary time into the game instead of into blogging about the game. :-) So, see you next month!
